The last great push of the war.
Dense forest. Mud. Wire. Interlocking machine gun nests.
No clear lanes. No clean fields of fire. Just cold rain, artillery, and ground that had to be taken yard by yard.
The 2nd Division, including U.S. Marines, moved forward through shattered timber and fortified strongpoints. Close fighting. Grenades. Bayonets. Rifles at near point-blank range.
This was not maneuver warfare.
This was pressure. Relentless forward movement.
The Meuse-Argonne Offensive broke the German line and ended the war weeks later.
This shirt marks the sector and ground where the final blows were struck.
Not a tribute.
